The Commission is a self-governing, neutral and independent body and is not subject to the direction or control of any person or authority. It is a corporate body with perpetual succession and a common seal capable of suing and being sued in its name.
We foster good governance through enhancing transparency, accountability, integrity in public service and administration, participation of persons in public affairs, including exposing corruption, to recognise the right to access to information envisaged in Article 28 of the Constitution, and to uphold the right to privacy as provided for in Article 20, together with all matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.
We have the power to determine the nature, process and undertakings necessary to discharge our mandate as per the Access to Information Act, 2018 and the Data Protection Act, 2023, including all work necessary for the promotion, monitoring and protection of the right of access to information and the protection of personal data.
